The Tamiya Madcap

The other day I was aimlessly browsing the internet and stumbled across an R/c site (Radio Controlled for the uneducated).

After delving in to try to find out what the best competition rc cars of today are performing like and which ones are best suited to rampaging there way around local parks terrorizing grannies and tormenting pooches, I decided to look up the model of the off-roader that I have when I was younger.

I was surprised to see that the not only was my model now viewed as a ‘Vintage’ but also was a collectors item. The specific model I had was the Tamiya Madcap. There is no end of information on this model and those like it on the internet with specialist site like the below carrying information on the vintage models.

This then instantly spurred me to make a call to my dad to see if my model was still alive and kicking (carefully prepared by himself back in the late 80’s!)

Everything was there: The Box, the instructions; the radio gear; the spare parts; the chargers; the batteries and most importantly the car!

Watch this space as I will get the car back on the pavement and into the park, there might even be some modification here or there. I’ll get some pictures posted up in one of the galleries as well.
